Welded Fabrication

Welding is a type of fabrication process that forms parts and structures by using high heat to melt and join metal materials. The technique often goes hand-in-hand with other manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, as both employ similar operations (such as assembly and bending) to achieve their end products.

There are numerous welding methods available, including:

Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW, also referred to as TIG welding)
  • The most common type of welding employed in fabrication shops
  • Ideal for a wide variety of metals
  • Produces high purity and high quality welds
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW, or also referred to as MIG welding)
  • High travel speeds and deposition rates help minimize downtime and operational costs
  • Can be carried out in virtually any position
  • Capable of welding dissimilar metals
  • Ideal for welding materials susceptible to hydrogen cracking
Oxyacetylene welding (commonly known as oxy-fuel welding)
  • Often cheaper than TIG welding
  • More portable equipment than many other welding methods
  • Easy to regulate flame temperatures
  • A faster learning curve for welding operators

At Tri-Cities Manufacturing, we offer robotic welding capabilities for existing fabrication projects. Our MIG and TIG welding services are, primarily, provided as add-on services intended to enhance or facilitate the manufacture of parts and components.

Some of the typical applications for our welding services include:

  • Motor home hitches
  • Chassis brackets
  • Chassis braces
  • Trusses

Materials Worked With and Industries Served

Materials Worked With

Depending on the specifications of the client’s application, we are capable of welding a variety of metal materials, including:

Stainless steel
  • High corrosion resistance
  • Maintains strength even at high temperatures
  • Easy to clean, bright, and easily-maintained
Cold rolled and hot rolled carbon steel
  • Exceptional hardness and strength
  • Cost-effective material
Aluminum
  • Lightweight
  • High corrosion resistance
  • Excellent weldability
  • Generally low-strength with some alloys demonstrating properties akin to steels
